I purchased a car here... it was a horrible experience and has cost me thousands ever since. Here's why: - when the car broke down in its warranty period they took almost 2 months to make the replacements that needed making - they then wired the started motor back in incorrectly, and caused an electrical fire which destroyed the starter motor, wire casing and battery, and very almost caused a serious crash when all the electrics in the car went at once. They OPENLY ADMITTED it was their fault, but REFUSED to replace the battery (£130 for a start-stop) because in Chris' words 'we have spent enough money on the car already' - When I finally figured out that the garage could not be trusted, I took the car to be looked at by 2 other trusted garages, who informed me of the following: 1. The injectors were faulty and two needed replacing immediately - including labour this set me back over £800; in addition I have had to replace the other 2 injectors, a window motor, all 4 spark plugs and an ignition coil after a series of breakdowns which in total has cost me in excess of £1400. 2. When black swan reassembled the running gear they used the WRONG bolts for the injectors 3. 2 of the injectors were MISSING their sleeves. I have wasted over £2200 and god knows how many hours in terms of breakdown recovery and garage trips on this car; I wasn't told about any of the problems with it and I suspect they were actively hidden from me. I find it almost impossible to believe that the garage could have been unaware of such a wide range of major problems with the car when two other garages spotted them instantly - this either means that they're blind, or that they're dishonest - I suspect the latter. AVOID this garage at ALL COSTS; the mechanics are incompetent and overworked (and one of them warned me that Chris (the owner) was a c**t - it's very obvious why, and I wish I had realized this before I bought a car from them) side note - the inside of the car was pretty dirty when I bought it, so I suggest you sanitize it yourself to stay covid safe, because I suspect that they do not. EDIT: Interested to see that Chris responded to my review by giving himself a separate 5 star review, in which he provides a considerable amount of false information in an attempt to excuse the terrible service provided. He also seems to ignore and fail to respond to the evidence of terrible workmanship I've found on the car. Two further takeaways: - the garage did not disclose reshaping of the body work (probably a result of a prang that caused the majority of the problems with the car) - the garage failed to observe consumer rights law, under which they are required to within 30 days if requested. Since the time of the review it has also been made clear to me that the ignition coils were replaced with sub-par parts which have caused further problems, yet another example of Chris and his team cutting corners and leaving their customers to bear the costs.
Evening Anthony I think you should tell the complete story. Yes you did have a problem with the car within the warranty. There was only a warranty on the engine and gearbox (which you where happy with) at the time because of the age of the car I suggested to you if you want peace of mind for longer that you purchase an extended more comprehensive warranty on line, you agreed it was a good idea and choose not to do it. As the problem was engine related I took the car in more or less straight away, it was not a simple fix and you said you still want to drive to Germany with it as you where booked to go. We advised against this as you could cause more damage than was present and you could cause consequential damage to other engine components and you signed our disclaimer which advised not to drive the car. Despite our advice you insisted on taking the car, I offered to cover the cost of a hire car but you refused saying you wanted to see how it performed on the autobahn and guess what it turned in to a much bigger problem. At my expense and after advice from a BMW specialist it was decided a replacement engine would be the best option which cost me in excess of £1500 and I didn’t ask you for a penny. You also said the car had developed a problem with the A/C, radio display and wheel alignment and despite none of these items being covered under warranty I rectified the faults and again didn’t ask you for a penny. Long after the 2 months was over you tried to come at me for £800+ for injectors it was at this point I did refuse a) because the warranty was up and b) it was not engine or gearbox related. Whilst I do have sympathy for you the line had to be drawn somewhere and I feel that if you had taken the earlier advice on day of purchase and bought yourself an extended warranty the majority of issues you have since had would have been covered and no cost incurred to yourself.
Prime example of how not to run a business The receptionist spoke to me like I was stupid Rowledge Garage got the car sorted for me instead. I'd recommend them over Black Swan any day
4 new tyres dealt with, good online ordering system, pricing seemed very fair to me, job done within an hour of dropping off. Worth calling up in advance to find out a good time to drop off as the website (at time of booking) gives either a morning or afternoon slot with no specific time. Would happily use again.
Unhelpful and rude Called up looking for an MOT a while ago, and the person who answered, Dan, was very rude and dismissive... took my business elsewhere of course.
